Hear Albanian polyphonic singing, UNESCO heritage, up close and try singing it yourself.
1 / 2
Lab iso-polyphony is one of the oldest ways of singing in the Balkans and is on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage. In Lazarat it is still sung at weddings, celebrations and evenings with friends.
A group of local singers explains the roles of the voices: the one who leads, the one who answers, the one who rises and the iso, the drone that holds them all together. Listen to several full songs and learn the stories behind them.
In the second part you join the iso yourself. You don't need to know how to sing, only to want to join in.
