Taste Lazarat's cheeses and hear the stories of the shepherds who make them.
1 / 2
For generations, herding has been at the heart of life in Lazarat. On this experience you meet a shepherd family who still make cheese from sheep's and goat's milk the way their grandparents taught them.
See how the milk is collected, how the cheese ripens in barrels and why the mountain pastures give it its particular taste. Afterwards, sit down for a tasting of white cheese, curd, yoghurt and bread baked under the saç, with honey and homemade raki.
Over the table your host tells you about moving the flocks between pastures, shepherds' songs and the customs that follow the seasons.
