Tourism that stays in the village
Visit Lazarat is a community organisation run by people who live here. We connect travellers with the families, crafts and food of Lazarat, so that the money a visit brings stays with the people who host it.
Our mission
To build a fair, lasting model of community tourism in Lazarat: one that gives residents an income, keeps traditions in daily use and opens new opportunities for young people to stay.
Our story
Lazarat sits on the slopes of Mali i Gjerë, across the valley from Gjirokastër. For years the village was known for the wrong reasons. Since 2020 a group of families has been changing that, opening their dairies, kitchens and workshops to visitors.
Visit Lazarat started as a shared phone number and a list of hosts. Today it is the platform that takes bookings, sells products and trains new hosts, and it is still run from the village.
What we do
Community tourism
Experiences hosted in family homes, booked and paid fairly.
Income for residents

Keeping traditions alive
